Good little dive restaurant, the service is pretty good most of the time. Love the lady from Boston, she's a hoot and friedly. I have mixed feeling about the food , the last time I was there I had a turkey cuban. It was ok, a little strange flavor combo and not a big fan. I've has chicken before and it was pretty good. I'm not a big seafood fan but I will eat shrimp sometimes. The last time I was there I had the buffalo shrimp and they were really good. My dad had a grilled grouper sandwhich and he said it was really good. I will be back for the shrimp because they're really good. Great place to grab a cold beverage, sit by the water and have a bite to eat. I would probably stick with the seafood since it seems to be what they're good at

Sat at the bar, and watched John do what he loves! You can tell if a person loves their occupation or not! Had Blackened Tuna dinner, that was great. After seeing the burgers, I want to go back an have one! Loved seeing all the food expertly prepared with a passion! Grilled asparagus looked awesome! Tell John Garry sent you! Enjoy! I'll be back here!

We have been going to this area for years we love the beaches. Our first stop is ALWAYS Wahoos. Hidden gem with the best food! Homemade salads, super fresh fish and seasoned cast iron skillets you can watch them cook. Highly recommend

One would normally never see this place if you're driving by, but definitely look out for it! This place is absolutely fantastic! It's a 'neighborhood' feeling when you walk in. They've expanded the interior to accommodate more diners, but I prefer to sit at the bar. They also have a nice little patio that overlooks the Intercoastal. Everything is cooked to order, so be patient, because the slightly longer wait is worth it. The owner/chef does a better job with his fish then most high end seafood restaurants! I always start out with the fish spread, then order one of their seafood dinners. This time around I ordered the Grouper dinner. Great portion size and cooked to perfection.

This is a dive bar but don't let that keep you away. This place has amazing seafood. Definitely have the seafood chowder and any of the daily specials they're offering on the chalk board. Also very friendly service. I will be back!

Hidden gem! My friends and I were quite amazed at the quality of food this dive puts out. The fish dip was delicious. Do yourself a favor and give this place a shot.

Awesome.Right next to "The Reef" seafood where they source all their awesome food.Excellent beer selection and the waitress had a great southern accent.Totally a great place to have some Grouper and watch a game.

Awful service. Waited an hr for dinner, never arrived. Got tired of waiting and just left and went somewhere else

    (1)
  • Tim T.

The freshest fish and tastiest food around! Let john cook you up something special! The waitstaff are friendly and fun. Yes, the place is a bit of a "dive". But we love a good dive when the good is so tasty. From smoked chicken wings to shrimp mac and cheese the menu varies every night based on what is fresh and available. The boat is out back so the fish doesn't get any fresher! Enjoy, we did!

Possibly the best fish tacos I've ever had. The fish spread is awesome with the thai chili sauce.

  • Yo Y.

Not sure where all the good reviews came from, but the food was 'meh,' the service was terrible, and it was very loud. Yes, it's a bar. It was still loud. Waited an hour for a burned brat with no flavor on a stale hoagie roll, for which I paid too much. And my beer tasted spoiled, had to send it back. Took 30 minutes for someone to take Our order, an hour for the food and another 30 minutes to pay. Never again.

  • Aaron S.

If the service was quicker this place wouldn't gotten 5 stars plus. We waited to have a server wait on us for 10 minutes before she came to take or drink order. Our food took another 30 minutes to arrive. The food was phenomenal. We ordered the blackened fish taco appetizer and an order of onion rings. The tacos were the best fish tacos I've ever had. As we were ready to leave or server suggested a slice of key lime cheesecake. It was crazy good too. I love a good dive bar especially when there is good food involved. If the service was faster this would be my favorite hidden gem in the Tampa Bay area.

This place was great! The servers were wonderful the beer was really cold and the FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING! If you pass it by that's your own fault.

I live around the corner and am a very regular customer. This is one of those "love it or hate it" places. Definitely a "dive". Avoid the bathrooms. Staff is great but usually understaffed at night on the bar and floor so be prepared if service is a little slow - but good natured! Love the staff here. Lunch during the week is more laid back if you want to avoid the crowds and still have a great meal... So don't go at peak times if you're in a hurry. You've been warned. It is definitely worth a little wait though. And still a 4 star review. Hope that tells you what you need to know about the food. Fish right off the boat. Inventive delicious specials. Past week I had smoked duck breast tacos with Asian slaw. Smoked mojo wings. Simply the best most unique wing I've had anywhere. Kills me when they aren't on the menu. Incredible house made seafood soups and chowders. I could go on. Probably will. Tonight I had the shrimp and mac and cheese. Fresh, perfectly grilled right about 20 feet away from me. Seasoned grilled shrimp with a side of big pasta shells in a tight delicious real cheese sauce. Mac is finished in the oven in a big oval dish with panko on top. Generous portion sizes on just about everything. Guy next to me at the bar ordered the special oyster po boy. Huge. Oysters. Bacon. Cheese. Lettuce. I had envy. Fantastic burger. Medium actually comes out medium. Grill is behind the bar and you can watch your food being cooked from any tall seat in the place. They do a beautiful tater tot if you happen to be a tot fan. I'm not usually but make an exception here. Beer and wine. 6 taps. 4 rotate usually including a couple of locals. Tonight it is Guiness, Liney Shandy, Dunedin Redhed (local), Stella, TBB Old Elephant Foot IPA (local), and Bud Light. Decent bottle selection. House wines. No wine list. Wrong place for that. Lot of choices within a short distance around here. Most of them prettier places. But I keep coming back here a few times a week. Nice outdoor area on the intracoastal too. Just a few tables out there. Limited dock space.

Great dive bar with really good food. You'll miss it if you don't look close enough in the strip that it is in. While there is a patio out back "on the water", it is next to a parking lot and and the rear entrances to the other stores in the strip. The waitress was super friendly, and the food was great for the prices. Both the grilled Grouper sandwich and the blackened chicken sandwiches were good. The slaw was a little runny, but had a good taste to it. All in all, two thumbs up and a happy belly.

Hidden gem where the locals go. Been a few times and have tried Lots if things ranging from the Burger (moist, juicy, huge) to fried oysters (pump, tender, melt in your mouth good) and nothing ever dissapoints. Don't be afraid of this place because of the decor, it's super yummy and they have a great back patio/dock to sit outside.

Yummy lunch or casual dinner spot. It was recommended to us during some beach chitchat. Its a little hard to find amongst all the large signs and bold buildings, so keep your eyes peeled for the humble Wahoo's sign. We were happily surprised that they carried one of our new favorites, a grapefruit beer, on tap. We sat out on a small casual outdoor dining area (dog friendly) and even spotted a few dolphins during the meal! Its laid back and they serve the day's catch (mullet snapper), our server had a personality of her own and added to the whole experience. We ordered amazing seafood chowder that my mom and dad still won't shut up about, a hefty dish ceviche, a burger so big that I still can't believe I finished it, fish tacos, massive seasoned red royal shrimp, and some classic BBQ wings. The place had its quirks, but the food was great!

This place is fantastic! We went here on a recommendation of a local, and I am thrilled we listened. This was obviously a place the locals go, which, even though I am a tourist, I always prefer. There are no bells and whistles. It is pretty much the definition of a dive but in the best way. The seafood is really fresh, really well seasoned, and inexpensive. Always look at the board that shows the specials. If you aren't eating outback on the patio (right on the inter-coastal, by the way) I recommend eating at the bar. The waitresses/bartenders are super friendly, and you can see your fresh fish being grilled up. I highly recommend getting whatever fish you order blackened. They do it right here, no wimpy dusting of spices. We got the mahi mahi tacos and mahi mahi sandwich (they had just sold out of the grouper) and both were great. I haven't tried the other sides they offer, but their fries are delicious!

  • Lisa K.

yes. casual, waterfront dining that has great food. The ahi tuna was better than any I have ever had! grilled and crunchy on the outside while melting in your mouth.

  • Ben K.

Great spot for fresh seafood. Space for two boats on the dock. Trigger fish special is a can't miss. Grouper sandwich is one of the best you will find on the beach. Very happy about the chili sauce served proudly beside tartar and cocktail.... the missing link! Don't be in a hurry. Just relax. Good times, great spot.

  • Anna S.

Ahh, wahoos. What to say... For starters, excellent location! Right on the water, we docked by boat and grabbed a table right on the patio. Your literally sitting on the water! Good service, though server a little slow on picking up the check. She had the whole patio to herself, so that's management's issue for not properly scheduling an adequate amount of employees. On to the Philly cheese steak. We specifically went to enjoy this sandwich as we remembered it to be delicious. Seems it is no longer true. Bread was tough (stale?), steak was way dry & not an appetizing texture. It was more like a steak-um. As for the cheese, they have moved on to a cheap grocery store product instead of the delicious real cheese that melted beautifully before:(. This was a slice of American or provolone on top that had clearly been microwaved. Oh so disappointing. They get 3 stars for a few of reasons: ****Amazing view! Very relaxing. ****Other menu choice may be better? Freshly fried shrimp or grouper sandwich perhaps? ****Server was "in the weeds" but very friendly & attentive when she came by. ****Boat dock open for use year round. Gotta like that! I will return when in town, but will try other menu items. In short, it's worth it enough to give em a shot atleast.

Best Grouper Sandwich I've ever eaten - I ordered it blackened, and it was amazing. They also served smoked wings in a "mojo" sauce that were the largest, most unique, tasty, and tender wings I've ever eaten. The menu is limited, but everything is fresh and homemade. Truly a place to stop!

We were looking for royal red shrimp, the ones that taste almost like lobster and that you can get fairly easily along the Florida panhandle, and MS and AL coasts. My wife looked on the internet and found Wahoo's. We called; they had them! Most other places we called had never heard of them. So we went and had the best meal we had on our 4-day getaway to St. Pete Beach, FL. My wife got the 1 lb basket of boiled royal reds, with drawn lemon-butter. I had the swordfish special which was good also, plus a few of those delicious royal reds! We sat out on the deck, under the stars, and were entertained by Harry the blue heron, well known and loved by the Wahoo's staff, who carefully strutted up on the deck looking for a handout! Go, go, go to Wahoo's in Redington Shores, FL. It's very small, and very rustic, but very good!

  • Andrea L.

Fresh fish on the beach cooked right in front of you if you sit at the bar... What more can you ask for? Grouper sandwich is on point and service is point. It's definitely a dive bar and restaurant which is perfect for this area in general. You won't be disappointed here!

    (4)
  • Brandon N.

This is a hole in the wall dive bar, kind of the local establishment Triple D is looking for. We sat on the deck out back and service was quick and helpful. They have a menu, but you need to look at the specials board. We started with the Coconut shrimp with Thai dipping sauce; the coconut was a good accent, not overdone to the point of sweetness. I had the Big Fat Cuban, a generous and well-toasted sandwich, very tasty. My wife tried the 12 shrimp dinner with cole slaw and potato salad. The shrimp were fresh, lightly breaded and excellent. My sister ordered off the board and got the Ybor Deviled Crab, a deep-fried chunk crab meat roll served with hot sauce. It was well seasoned and tasty. All-in-all, this was an enjoyable dinner and we'll return.

My husband and I go to this place every time we are in town. My husband always gets the grouper sandwich and adds provolone cheese and I normally get the special. They have a white board and I always order from that / that is the fresh catch of the day. Everyone that we have taken with us always requests that we at least go their once during our visit. Don't let the building scare you it is a great casual place. Also don't be in a hurry.

Wow! What a great find! This small dive is so close to the condo we stay at, but we never would have found it if it weren't for the Yelp reviews. You won't notice it from the street. Even when looking for the sign, it's easy to miss. This little gem is a keeper! They have just a handful of tables outside on the bay side and that is what drew me to this place. It's your typical bar/restaurant with great food and a great view if you get a chance to eat outside. I had a grouper sandwich with tator tots (they are deep fried - a special treat for those like me who normally bake them). Hubby had the coconut shrimp which was very good. We also split a bowl of their seafood chowder - yum! They don't have a huge menu, but they do have a daily specials board, so do check that out. Our server, Corrinne was wonderful. The beers were reasonably priced too. We will be back for sure!

  • Blondie P.

Good food, a dive of a place, you can sit outside by the water, but it was too hot for that, we ate indoors. Friendly service, the shrimp were excellent, as was the Grouper. Everyone enjoyed the food. Only drawback was after we left, we realized we should have checked our bill, as the $114 seemed a bit high. But our fault for not realizing it sooner and checking the full bill. And to be fair we did (for a party of 5) have several beers and wine. So maybe it's just a pricey dive.

We ordered take out from here a few times this past week. It's a dive but a really good one. The coleslaw is off the hook. Beer is really cold. Stella on Tap, lots of bottle choices too and all on ICE! NICE! Specials were good. Fried Oysters one night really good. The $3 slider appy was the size of a regular burger! Nice onion rings. The pan fry in cast iron skillets. Blackened fresh fish or shrimp or however you like. Nice service nice people. TV's all over. Yep I'm a fan

  • Susan G.

Amazing food! The best food we've had on our trip to the gulf. It is a little hole in the wall place and you very well may miss it driving or even walking by. Mostly looks like a bar but service is great and food is phenomenal!

    (5)
  • Mark E.

Yes a great dive bar, especially for the quality of the seafood. We visited a number of times mostly for lunch and one evening meal. We sat outside on the deck by the water every time and close to the fishing boats that bring the catch in daily. My wife had 3 different shrimp dishes over our visits and each one was excellent - Shrimp BLT tacos, Bleu Shrimp tacos & Shrimp Dinner. I had the Grouper Sandwich, Alligator Sausage Hoogie and a Bison Burger, all very different but excellent tasting. For each visit we had a cup of soup that was on the special board, the chowder and gumbo were some of the best we have ever had. The only reason for 4 stars is please don't need to use the bathrooms !!!!!

All you have to do is look at the specials board. .fresh and tasty....

    (5)
  • Ron H.

The food is average however the service is terrible. I have gone 3 times and each time it gets worse. The servers (including the manager) feel they are doing you a favor to sell you there average food. They have a sign the bar saying that it was not a Burger King, so you don't have it your way...which must include having any type of CUSTOMER service.

    (2)
  • Linda O.

We love Wahoo's! Great place to sit out by the water on their patio, drink a cold beer and enjoy a Cajun grouper sandwich (best and freshest you can get in all of Florida) and a platter of Cajun shrimp. Only downside, service is hit or miss and the kitchen does not have the capacity to handle it when it's busy. So, make sure you have a little extra time.

    (4)
  • Chad B.

Don't worry about the expensive lunch or dinner options, stick with the fish tacos on the appetizer list, 2 for $6.95. They offer fried, lightly blackened, or blackened (spicy), and a honey chili glaze that I wanted to take home. If there are two of you, get two fish tacos (fresh catch from the boats you see outside) and split an order of onion rings. on my vacation of 8 days, that was the only place we hit twice!

    (5)
  • J. Daniel B.

Great service, fair prices, decent locals style bar or pub best describes it. Fish spread was good, but our meals were under cooked and that is a no no with fish. For Drinks and apps this place is fine.

    (2)
  • Rose S.

The blackened shrimp was recommended. I got them on a garden salad with balsamic dressing. I'm sure I will be craving it next week! Yummi!

It doesn't get any more old Florida dive bar meets good seafood than this place. Don't walk in looking for a hostess, it's a bar, some tables and chairs, a nice deck out back and seat yourself. I sat at the bar 3 feet behind the cook who was cooking each order on old cast iron skillets or the grill right before my eyes while more fresh fish came in from right out back where the boats are. They don't mess around, the menu is simple,southern.. fresh grouper, deep fried oysters, shrimp, shrimp BLT tacos and for the land lovers they make a handmade burger party that looks just as good (I can't give up fresh blackened grouper for a burger though). You can get the seafood grilled, blackened or fried. Fries were great and they also had tater tots and soups. There was plenty more but I'll leave some for the imagination. Don't come here looking for a fancy tourist trap restaurant, this is what a place on the beach was like way back. Come here for the food and if you like watching it being made, sit at the bar and you can watch and talk to the cook and he'll probably bring your dinner right to you. If you have a family, the seats out back are scenic and perfect just don't expect a rushed meal, they take their time, meaning I wouldn't bring my toddler here just because he isn't patient. By the way, if you can't park out back look across the street in the public lot.

Every time I'm in the St Pete/Clearwater area I try to go out of my way to stop-in & get their fish spread appetizer & grouper sandwich. So tasty!

Wonderful Florida hole in the wall type place with great food. We ordered off the specials board and all was perfect. Cold beer, great seafood and nothing real fancy. love places like this.

Looks like a dive bar but don't drive by. The freshest fish around! Amazing grouper.... We sat outside on their very small patio but its right on the water. Good beer selection too.

    (5)
  • Steve L.

The food was delicious and the draft beer was nice and cold. The only complaint I would have is the tv volume was too loud, which made it hard to have a decent conversation.

best grouper around. great seared tuna. great people and prices. love the shrimp blackened.

Food was fresh and delicious. The seafood was brought directly in from the dock. Fun relaxed environment. Beer and wine only. Look for the specials. Yum!

Delicious fish tacos. Made with fish cheeks! Tasty fries too.

What a dump! Food is ok. Good Grouper sandwiches but pricey, $15 each. Decor is early garage sale, especially the deck area.

  • Beverly S.

I had the grouper dinner special. It was good but the wait was like 30 to 40 minutes. It was a good thing I was with a friend who I hadn't seen in a long time. Inside the place looks like a dive bar but the food is good.

Great fish spread, typical locals beach bar. I love it here!!!!

  • J M.

I have been told to go there by so many people and I have been there 3 times. First time it was 3 stars - ok service and food a little over cooked. Second time I thought it must have just been a bad day, but same experience. Third time i went in at night and was met by a really rude bartender, like I was bothering her by walking in the door. I had a 2 beers and never got around to eating cause wasn't asked and neither was anyone else of the 3 other people I was with, even though there was only 5 other people in the place. Fool me once shame on u, twice shame on me, 3 strikes and I'm out for good

I've seen jesus, and he resides at Wahoo's in the form of a specials board. On the plate of anything you order. You guys go to church, ill go to Wahoo's

    (5)
  • Tanya S.

A nice surprise. Always a skeptic, weird that on the coast it's hard to find descent seafood. Wahoo's in Redington has and interesting menu, look at the daily special board at the bar, most everything is good, with some original dishes. The grouper fresh as are other daily catches. Save room for desert, we love the key lime cheesecake. Wahoo's is very unpretentious, super beach casual and runs on beach time so relax, nothing fancy here.

  • Marlene S.

We had 9 people in our party for dinner. They are not prepared to handle a party that size. The food took for ever! We were all starved and one of our dinners came complete with a hair in the coleslaw! It is very dark inside. The tables outside do have umbrellas, but they are not adjustable, so the sun can be in your eyes if you are there at the wrong time of day. I'd say this is more suitable for drinks than for dinner.

Great place ! VERY fresh fish, great fish tacos, killer wings and specials everyday. Always filled with locals. Nuff said!
